Woman Who Had Sex With Teen Released From Jail

COVINGTON, KY -- A Northern Kentucky woman charged with having sex with a teenage boy has been released from jail in Kenton County, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Jeni Lee Dinkel was released from the Kenton County jail late Saturday after serving time for having sex with the teenage boy in her Villa Hills home last year. Dinkel, who is 51, entered the jail Oct. 4 to serve time for third-degree rape.

Dinkel pleaded guilty in May to one count of third-degree rape for having sex with a 15-year-old friend of her son. In August, she was sentenced to serve 60 days of a five-year sentence. Her jail time was delayed while her 16-year-old son received treatment for cancer. She was also sentenced to five years’ probation and must register as a sex offender for 20 years, the Enquirer reports.

The mother of the teenage victim has filed a lawsuit in Kenton Circuit Court that accuses several people and agencies with failing to take proper action to stop the abuse, reports the newspaper.

The suit seeks unspecified damages from Dinkel; Dinkel’s husband, retired Bengals linebacker Tom Dinkel; Covington Catholic High School Principal Michael Clines; the Covington Diocese, and Park Hills Police Chief Rick Smith.

The defendants are accused of "willful, wanton, reckless and grossly negligent conduct" resulting in "permanent mental and emotional injuries that the victim will continue to suffer," the suit says. The Enquirer is not naming the victim’s mother to avoid identifying the victim.

The Covington diocese responded by saying it believes it and Covington Catholic High School "complied fully" with their legal obligations to report the suspected abuse that took place off school grounds, reports the Enquirer.

FOR ALL OF YOU PEOPLE THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND, THE AGE OF CONSENT FOR SEX HAS ALWAYS BEEN CONSIDERED LEGAL AT 16. THE AGE OF PUBERITY IS MUCH EARLIER THAN THAT.WHAT WOULD PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY DO IF THEY LIVED IN MOST OTHER COUNTRIES THAT MARRY AT THE AGE OF PUBERITY

I understand the mother being upset. But, she too must accept some responsibility for her sons actions as well. Why was her child in a situation where this could happen? We as parents always need to ask: "who, what, where, when" , etc.... having a child truly raped is not a situation for a "get rich quick scheme"

Just as expected, the woman, got a slap on the wrist and is out to do the same thing to other children! I hope the lawmakers change the law to the age of 18. If you have to be 18 to vote and 21 to purchase beer, then you should be 18 before an ADULT can have sex with you! If a 19 yr old wants to have sex with a 17 yr old, he should be charged with rape! He's an adult and the 17 yr old is not! It won't kill them to wait until the 17 yr is of age! If adults and hollywood would quit making sex such a big deal, then we wouldn't have kids wanting to try it! It's just like smoking, drinking, or anything else, the bigger the deal made about it the more the kids want to do it!

In Kentucky, as in most states, the age of majority is 16 years old, therefore nothing illegal happened. Unethical, yes...but illegal, no. The school boards or the Dept of Education should make a hard and fast rule that teachers under no circumstances can have any sexual relations with a student prior to that student's graduation. This would eliminate the problem. This is an ethics problem, not a law problem. If we change the age of majority to 18, then most of the Seniors would be eligible to have sex with their teachers, and when that student who is a Freshman in college and is in love with his/her high school sweetheart who is only 2 years younger than he (19/17), it would be considered RAPE if you change the age of majority. That is a big mistake. Just fix the ethics problem and it will be solved.

This woman should get the same treatment as men sex offenders.I hate to think what I would do to someone if they molested my teenaged daughter-or if I had a son.The courts needs to make an example ofthis woman. These women taking advantage of these underage boys dont seem to get the same bad rap that men do,and that's not right.I know some may think-huh,the boys probably liked it.Well, she is 51,he is 16;she's old enough to be his grandmother! She's an adult-he's a minor. It's as simple as being illegal-as well as GROSS!
