The city of Lexington has received a big honor. It's been chosen as the site of a big convention in 2011.
Representatives from the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives made the announcement Monday morning.
Lexington was competing with six other cities for the convention including Las Vegas, St. Louis, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Baltimore and Norfolk.
According to planners, a convention of this size is estimated to have an economic impact of more than $3 million for Lexington and the surrounding region. The conference is scheduled for July of 2011.
