Nelson County Woman Killed In Crash

BLOOMFIELD, KY -- A 71-year old Nelson County woman was killed Saturday night in a single vehicle accident about three miles east of Bloomfield.

The Kentucky State Police report Murna C. Shelburne was declared dead at the scene of the accident by the Nelson County Coroner. The accident occured shortly after 9 p.m.

According to the police report, Shelburne was driving her car on KY458 when her vehicle left the road and crashed into a concrete bridge abutment. Police say she apparently attempted to exit the vehicle causing it to slide off the abutment and roll over into a creek bed trapping her beneath.

Trooper Michael K. Davis of the KSP Post in Elizabethtown is investigating the mishap.

    This is just a horrible accident. It sad this poor lady had to die this tragic death. I am really sorry for her family. They are in my thoughts and prayers
