Woman And Missing Assistance Dog Reunited

The missing assistance dog that ran away during strong storms on Saturday has been re-united with his owner. "George" was found late Tuesday night in a neighborhood on Pimlico.

A neighbor, who saw the story on 27 NEWSFIRST spotted the dog and immediately called his owner. Terry quickly called her friends who found "George."

The two were back together a short time later. Terry says she has been overwhelmed with support since the story first aired, even having people come from all over Central Kentucky to help her find her assistance dog.

I would like to commend WKYT on their coverage of this story. They were wonderful and it is in a huge part to this that Terry and George were reunited. Terry has been a long time friend of mine and like the story told, George has made it possible for her to remain independent. I can't say enough how much all of us appreciated the job that WKYT did on this and I for one know who my one and only news station will be from this day on. Thank you so much for caring and the fantastic job you guys did.

I've met Terry and George. George has a great home. He didn't mean to leave but just panicked in the wind storm and probably panicked again when he realized he was lost. Thank you WKYT and all who came together to prove that we can make good things happen if we work together. God will help us when we come together to help each other.

Thank you to WKYT for providing this story with so much exposure. As a result of this exposure, searchers were able to get that initial tip shortly after your first segment aired alerting them as to where to continue searching. Between your coverage, an internet list, many generous and caring hearts, and by the grace of god this story had a very happy ending. We are thrilled - thank you!

Thanks to WKYT and to all the people who posted signs and to the community who was looking for him, George was found. As someone who has been helping since he ran away Sunday, I have to say it's a really big world and our flyers are very, very small. Without all the publicity from WKYT and the volunteers working to not only post dozens of flyers but to talk to people to tell them about George, we could not have made enough people aware of the situation and gotten him home. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. It restores my faith that so many people gave so much to help this dog and owner to be together again.
