If you still have a Christmas present to mail, your days are numbered to get it there on time.
Monday was the last day to ship at regular rates to get a gift there by Christmas.
WYMT's Angela Sparkman visited one post office on what's dubbed the "Busiest Shipping Day of the Year."
It's dubbed the busiest shipping day of the year.
“I'm here to mail a package to my good friend in Colorado. We don't get to see them much so we're sending them a Christmas wish,” Kim Kasarjian said.
She wasn't the only one. Monday was the last day to mail packages at the regular rate and get them there by Christmas.
Christmas presents and Christmas cards filled customers' hands. Postal employees worked as fast as they could.
If you didn't get your items mailed Monday, postal employees say you still have a chance.
“There is hope! Priority service, which is 2-3 day delivery. There is no guarantee but they do their best to get it there in 2-3 days,” Lisa Preston said.
For the very last minute mailers on Friday and Saturday, there is still overnight service, but it won't be cheap.
“With the guarantee service, you're going to spend the most money,” Preston said.
For Monday's customers, the gifts are out of their hands and on the way. All they can do is hope it makes it on time.
Which means postal employees expect even more work as the week goes on.
