Senators Try To Block Nomination Of KY Doctor

In the nation's capital, democrats will stay in session over the holiday break in an effort to keep President Bush from naming Kentucky doctor James Holsinger as the Surgeon General.

Senate majority leader Harry Reid says he will keep the senate in pro forma session to block President Bush from, "doing an end run around the senate and the constitution with his controversial nominations."

Holsinger wrote a paper 16 years ago that was interpreted as anti-gay. He was chancellor of the University of Kentucky's medical center for nine years.
