Louisville Smoking Ban Struck Down

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A judge has struck down a citywide
smoking ban in Louisville, saying one unconstitutional exemption in
the law renders the entire ban illegal.
Jefferson Circuit Judge Steven Ryan ruled Friday that because an
exemption in the smoking ban for Churchill Downs was illegal, the
entire law fails.
In November, Jefferson Circuit Judge Denise Clayton struck down
the exemption that allowed smoking in some parts of the historic
racetrack.

Wow, you can believe that hogwash if you want to, but I don't believe those so called research places. You know why? Because every year around Oct 1st they come up with every kind of data you can imagine, just to get federal tax dollars! I can take a survey & make it say anything I want it to say! The bottom line is businesses should be able to determine whether or not they wish to allow smoking! It shouldn't be the government's choice! If I don't like smoke, then I have a choice NOT to go to their business! Let the researchers get on the liquor industries for awhile and leave smokers alone. They have already bankrupt the tobacco industry, perhaps they can accomplish the same for the liquor industries! Fat chance that will happen! Too much tax money rolling in from the liquor industries! The government needs to keep that research $ to help its citizens instead of listening to the lies these researches come up with! I DON'T BELIEVE THEM! THEY ARE IN IT FOR THE $, NOT BECAUSE THEY CARE!

The Global News Industry has a Fiduciary Duty to the public to report all the sides and information. Yet the world's entire news mediae and journalists is refusing to report all sides of the second hand tobacco smoke issue. They are knowingly and deliberately refusing to report that there are many researchers, scientists, even doctors and politicians, and millions of tax paying voters who do NOT believe the anti-smoking claims about second hand tobacco smoke. And, by not reporting that information, the news industry deliberately and knowingly violates it's Fiduciary Duty to the public. Some day, there will be an accounting for this deliberate act of suppression of information. Steve Hartwell Toronto, Canada www.reducedriskcigarettes.ca

@Anonymous you never read a book b4 have you? From the CDC website "Each year, more than 400000 Americans die from cigarette smoking. In fact, one in every five deaths in the United States is smoking related." Compare that to 75,000 alcohol related a year. SO wheres you "true"ness of your comment? If people are too dumb to know smoking kills they should try wathcin there kids cough or their animals sneeze when they smoke to close to them. Common sense people ya dont sit around a burning tire and say what a fresh bretahe of air do you?

The government has no right to tell a man how to run his establishment! For that reason alone this ban should be shoved up Mayor Jerry’s (edited)! Lets stop this stupid ban just like the libray tax!
