Families Homeless After Fire

Just days before Christmas and two families are homeless after a fire takes everything they own.

The Loyall Fire Department responded to a call late last night after an abandoned building went up in flames spreading quickly to three adjacent homes. The fire was so intense four additional fire departments were called to help battle the flames.

Fire Chief Justin Farley said it was a difficult fire to battle because the houses are built so close together. Once the fire was out, the abandoned building and two homes were completely destroyed and a third suffered minor damage.

Randy Blevins, one of the homeowners, said he lost everything but he is thankful to be alive.

No one was injured and victims have found shelter with relatives.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the fire, but a cause has not been determined.
