Deadly Crash In Mercer County

One person is dead after crashing in Mercer County today.

It happened on U.S. 127 just outside Harrodsburg.

The coronor has not yet released the victim's name.

However, 27 NEWSFIRST has learned that the victim is a 46-year old man from Harrodsburg.

At this time, police say they aren't sure what caused the accident.

A witness told police that the victim's Ford Explorer drifted off the side of the roadway, before going airborne and landing in a rocky embankment.

The victim was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    How many of these accidents do we read about that kill people and 99% of the time we see the line "the victim was not wearing a seatbelt"? This should be a hint, wear your doggone seatbelt...the life you save may be your own and statistically you are 67% more likely to be not killed or less injured wearing one than not. Why do you think it's the law? not to make money for the courts (a 25 dollar fine isn't much), but to save lives, but so many Kentuckians are too stupid to follow the law.
