Corrections Officer In Court On Drug Charge

A Fayette County Corrections officer accused of giving prescription drugs to inmates is due in court today.

29-year old John Cockrell of Georgetown is charged with promoting contraband. Cockrell was arrested after a month-long internal affairs investigation at the Blackburn Correctional Facility.

Cockrell tells 27 NEWSFIRST, the drugs were prescription, and that he never intended to give the drugs to inmates.

    I am John's wife nothing happened so far we are fighting this. We have a lawyer. He has not done anything wrong but bring his depression medicane to work with him. He rufused to work over on thanksgiving and that is what started all of this. If you new my husband everyone there taht was friends with him new that he was a good guy and he made a mistake.

    Never heard what came out of the court hearing. The Complex has been real closed lipped about it. Anyone knows, Please post it hear, thnaks.
