Pair Fighting Law Allowing Bow Hunting In Northern Ky. City

FORT THOMAS, Ky. (AP) - Two northern Kentucky residents are asking a judge to overturn an ordinance that allows bow hunters to kill deer within city limits.

The Fort Thomas City Council passed the new law earlier this month. It allows people to shoot deer on private property with the owner's permission during the archery season.

But William Sheffield and Lisa Kelly say hunting isn't appropriate in city limits.

They filed a lawsuit this week challenging the ordinance. Their suit says the law is defective because it doesn't seek to count how many deer are killed or provide insurance or compensation to anyone injured by the hunts.

The city council plans to review the impact of the hunt after January 21, when hunting season ends.

Some of these comments are insane. Almost all hunters are educated on hunting safety. The max range of an average bow hunter is 30-40 yards. A persons private property is a persons private property.

If these folks love the deer, they'll really love the Coyotes that will move in once the deer herd weakens from overpopulation..

No Nicky it is all the idiot non trained hunters and drunks that end up shooting you or your kids in your back yard or house. I have no idea where anyone gets off saying that deer are over populated! Wake up people! Before long we will all be eating asphalt because there will not be any land left to even hunt a deer on!!!

Think they'll also file suit against the city when a deer "runs into" their Prius or grazes on their organic gardens?

I would say then let the populations soar and let the deer eat all the flowers and plants of the "squirrel huggers and tree huggers." Why does people get all frenzied when someone is going to shoot something. They are the same people that fuss and complain when they smash one with their vehicles.

The residents are also asking that Jarting of deer be rescinded as well. The possibility that a child will have an eye put out is the overriding concern.
