Somerset Couple Charged With Locking Kids In Hot Bedroom

SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) - A Pulaski County grand jury has indicted a couple, accusing them of locking three of their children in a hot bedroom while the man and woman slept with air conditioning.

The indictments charge 30-year-old Patrick O'Conner and 24-year-old Felicia O'Conner of one count each of first-degree criminal abuse.

Authorities found the couple's 3- and 4-year-old children and their 7-month-old baby locked in a sweltering bedroom without even a fan in August.

Police reported the parents had two fans in their bedroom and an air conditioner in the living area.

The three children in the home and a fourth sibling were taken into protective custody.

The parents are held in lieu of $50,000 bond each.

The parents must have been trying to get the kids acclimated to global warming. Al Gore would be proud.
