Governor To Talk Budget Cuts Later This Week

27 NEWSFIRST has learned that Governor Steve Beshear will brief legislative leaders Friday morning and unveil his budget reduction plan to the public later that day.

The governor has said the state faces a budget crisis and is running hundreds of millions of dollars behind expected revenue.

Beshear is expected to call for cuts across state government in the neighborhood of three percent.

The governor has indicated he will likely spare primary and secondary education and he's deciding now whether to institute a state hiring freeze.

Ok, Have any of you ever been to Lawrenceburg, IN If not then quit griping about casinos The casinos in Lawrenceburg, Rising Sun, etc. has turned the state of IN around for the good. More revenue cleaner towns. Why should we let IN have all the money get it here in KY where we live people. Come on. If your worried about the poor people in KY going and losing their money get over it they are going to do it anyway on the lottery etc. and if they aren't spending it here in KY they are going to go to IN and other states to do it.

Give it a rest. Mr. Brashears can not put gambling into kentucky without the vote from the ky people, or should I say he stated that he wouldn't unless that is what the people of kentucky want. Of course you hadn't heard about any debts why would fletcher tell you about the debt when he is the major cause of the debt to start with. He over paid himself and all the buddies he made jobs for in legislature. How soon you forget that he pardoned everyone including himself and lots that were in prison and at least one that was there for murdering her own grandmother! Gezzz people get off your high horses and give the man a chance. He can't be any worse then what we had the last few years. You can't get any worse then the Ex-Govenor Fletcher! He was a liar, cheat, and seems just this side of being a criminal himself! For goodness sakes he was only for the rich and elite and that is a very SMALL portion of Ky people! Give it a rest and give the man a chance!

ANOTHER PUSH FOR CASINOS. MY THING IS THAT IF CASINOS BRING IN THE MILLIONS THAT HE CLAIMS, THE MONEY WILL BE COMING FROM ONE PLACE THE PEOPLE OF THIS STATE AND SURROUNDING STATES. THE MILLIONS WILL BE COMING FROM THERE POCKETS. THAT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW MUCH MONEY PEOPLE WILL LOSE AT THESE CASINOS. YES THERE WILL BE THE EVERY NOW AND THEN WINNER, BUT THERE WILL BE THE EVERY DAY LOSER THAT WILL BE PART OF THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS REVENUE. CASINOS WILL WORK TO BRING MONEY IN BUT AT A MAJOR COST TO THE CITIZENS OF KY.

Wasnt the money for the KY Lottery going to be the answere for the MONEY short fall in our EDUCATION system? Well that didnt work out to well did it, I dont see how the gambling is going to do any better. The only people making money are your corrupt politions and there special itersets groups, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The people of KY will always be on the back burner in Frankfort. Look at what there doing to the State Retirement System. I bet if the politions were on the verge of losing there retirement they would work day and night to get it resolved, But oh well its just the working class that loses out not the rich or the people living off there free welfare checks.

A great deal of the "shortfall", as it relates to the retirement systems, lies with our great legislature. They haven't done what they were told to do for many years and look at the shape we're in today. Looks like we need to clear out the legislature and start over. I've been in Frankfort when the legislature was in session and it was an absolute joke.
