UK Medical Professor Hit By Car While Jogging

LEXINGTON, KY -- Lexington Police report a van hit a jogger who is a medical professor at the University of Kentucky, Saturday morning after the van apparently ran a red light.

Franca Cambi of Lexington, was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital. She is expected to recover from her injuries. Cambi has been an associate professor of neurology at UK since 2004.

Lexington police Sgt. Scott May said the van's driver, Hal N. Duncan, 62, of Liberty, S.C., ran a red light on Main Street around 8:15 a.m.

The van hit the jogger and then hit a gray Honda Accord, driven north on Broadway by Alisha Cunningham, 20, of Georgetown. There were no other injuries in the mishap.

    By far the worst city I have ever lived in for running red lights. I walk to UK myself daily for work and have had several close calls myself from people running lights as I'm using the crosswalk. It's especially bad when people do it 10-15 seconds after the lights have changed.
