Memorial Held To Remember Murdered Scott County Woman

She was murdered just a few months before she was due to give birth.

Now, many people are remembering a Scott County woman, four years after her death.

18-year-old Ashley Lyons was shot in the Scott County Park on January 7, 2004.

Many of her friends and family gathered at the park Monday night to remember her.

Lyons' ex-boyfriend, Roger McBeath, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.

But last month, the Kentucky Supreme Court overturned the conviction, saying testimony from a police informant was obtained illegally.

The court also ordered a new trial.

Dena Williams, who McBeath was dating at the time of the murder, plead guilty to complicity to commit murder.

She's currently serving a 20 year prison sentence.
