KSP Suspects Heart Attack Prompted Fatal Collision

UPPER CHLOE, KY -- Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal single-car crash in this Pike County community where the 56-year old victim may have suffered a heart-attack just prior to the accident on Hill Road.

The victim has been identified as Phillip Kendrick of 513 Upper Chloe. KSP Trooper Jason McLellan responded to the call. McLellan determined Kendrick was leaving his driveway and ran into a ditch. Police suspect Kendrick had a fatal heart attack based on his history of cardiac problems and prior heart failure.

Pike County Deputy Coroner Zeb Hampton pronounced Kendrick dead at the scene. Police say no alcohol or drug use is suspected. Autopsy results are pending and next of kin notified. KSP Post #9 in Pikeville reports the accident is still under investigation.
