A central Kentucky man faces charges after Nicholasville police say he impersonated a police officer.
Scotty Roberts, of Wilmore, is charged with impersonating a police officer, which is a felony.
Police say he went to a Nicholasville business and started asking questions about its security system. Police say he showed a fake police identification card and a badge.
Employees at the business got suspicious and called police. After investigating, police went to Roberts' home, where he was arrested.
Police say Roberts told them he had always wanted to be a police officer. They also claim Roberts told him that desire led him to represent himself as an officer.
Roberts left jail Friday morning on a $2,000 cash bond. 27 NEWSFIRST contacted a family member by phone Friday, who told us Roberts did not want to comment about the case.
Nicholasville Police are asking any business that has encountered a similar situation to contact them immediately.
