Trying to charge something proved to be a big challenge Monday for many customers at Hamburg.
Crews working on the Liberty Road construction project hit a cable around noon, knocking out phone service to 1,800 customers.
That included several Hamburg stores.
Without phone service, most of them had to go to a cash or check only policy. Others took credit cards, but used old fashioned methods.
Windstream officials worked through the afternoon to restore phone service. They tell 27 NEWSFIRST everything was restored by 5 Monday afternoon.
