An elderly man is dead and police are still looking for who's responsible for the home invasion that led to his death.

It all started last week when someone broke into 91-year-old Bill Taylor's home in Bell County.

Taylor was beaten and robbed.

After a week long fight at a Tennessee hospital, Taylor died Tuesday night.

WYMT's Jeff Allen talked to Taylor's neighbors who say they're worried about their safety.

Bill Taylor died Tuesday night at the UT Medical Center about a week after the 91 year old was severely beaten at his home. News of his death spread quickly through the close-knit Bell County community of Frakes, where he lived.

“We'll be more cautious after this and I'm just really concerned for everybody around here,” Maxine Hatfield said.

Taylor's son Warren Taylor, who's been at his father's side at the hospital, came back to his home Wednesday.

He say's it's obvious where someone cut his father's telephone lines before attacking him.

He says his father put up a strong fight against his attackers and then in the hospital.

Now, his family wants justice.

“We knew police are working hard and we feel confident they'll catch them,” Warren Taylor said.

Police say they are now investigating this as a murder.

Right now they are not releasing the names of any suspects.

Why would somone want to beat up a 91 year old man? I will tell you why, because they are LOW DOWN DIRTY PEOPLE WHO NEED THE CRAP BEAT OUTTA THEM BUT WORSE THAN THEY DID THE ELDERLY MAN. PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS HOW DID THIS TURN THE SCUMBAGS IN AND DONT JUST SLAP THEM ON THE WRIST. ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. thats what is wrong with people like this they know that more than likely they will just get a slap on the wrist and can go back out and do it again. Appoint me judge of this case and I would make sure they wouldnt get a slap on the wrist. They would get worse than the poor man did. To the victims family your in my prayers and thought. I know this is such a tragic way for someone to die especially a man that has lived a great life to be 91 years old. If it wasnt for you stupid people who did thos him then he would have lived many many more happy years.

What they did to that poor man is awful and I know someone knows who did this and where they are right now and they need to be turned in so they can pay for what they did, but don't blame his neighbors for not hearing! That is just stupid!

Someone out there knows who did this or has a pretty good idea. TURN THEM IN! If a 91 year old man can put up a fight, the rest of us can do something to bring this cowardly attacker to justice. I'm curious to see what someone that low looks like.

It broke my heart when I heard about Mr. Taylor passing away. I can't believe anybody would want to hurt a 91 year old man that could not fight back. He looked so sweet. I can't imagine what his family is going through. I hope they can find the strength to get through this trying time. I hope they catch the person or persons who did this and I hope they have to look at a picture of poor Mr. Taylor everyday for the rest of their lives and see what they did to him.

The community and family will remain in our thoughts and prayers. Last year another elderly person was killed not too far from where this happened, and all this violence and tragedy just shows why the war on drugs needs to continue. When people are addicted, they will do ANYTHING to get what they need...and will stop at nothing...not even murder! This is a war that is definitely worth fighting!!

I wish there were a worse place than hell the people who beat Mr. Bill Taylor would go.
