Four Horses Die In Collision With Car

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Four horses have been euthanized after being hit by a car.

Lexington police say the four yearlings were struck Thursday morning by a car driven by 21-year-old Andrew Jackson of Georgetown.

The horses belonged to Lane's End Farm. Lane's End president Bill Farish told the Lexington Herald-Leader that the horses got loose at about 7 a.m. and were being led to a barn when they were spooked.

Farish says six yearlings ran from their handlers, went out a gate and ran into the street. Farish says one yearling avoided the car and another turned back before the collision.

Jackson was taken to University of Kentucky Hospital for injuries that aren't considered life threatening.

I agree with Anonymous about how 27 covered this story. I have sent a letter to that other station which shall remain nameless demanding an apology for their classless coverage of this story. KUDOS 27!

I would like to commend channel 27 on there coverage of this story. Unlike some news channels they have left out the grousome pictures that do not need to be shown. Even without the un-needed pictures the story was covered very well. I don't understand the need for some stations to plaster such vivid photos.

Atleast this guy knows who owns the horses that were loose. He will be able to get his insurance co pay back, bills paid and probably much more. My husband and I were on 421 at the Franklin and Woodford County line, last October, and hit one of several horses in the middle of the road. We were unable to find the owners and had to eat the insurance co pay to get our car fixed. This guy is lucky that he did not get seriously hurt worse.
