A central Kentucky man is recovering after he was attacked with his baseball bat, right in his front yard.

David Burnside says he received a call from Mathew Rogers who told him they needed to talk face to face.

Not knowing what to expect, Burnside walked outside with his baseball bat to meet him. Burnside says they were having a conversation when Rogers suddenly snapped, taking the bat from him and beating him with it several times.

Burnside has a broken elbow, gashes to his head and several cuts and bruises. Danville Police have issued a warrant for Mathew Rogers, who now faces assault charges.

Police think the confrontation between Rogers and Burnside may have been over a mutual friend.

Phil: i am waiting for Rogers cour dat,. however he can't be transported to Danville, until he faces charges filed against him in Taylor County. As far as Burnside doing this to himself... does that really make sense to you? Yellow Bracelet: You know my DBB? Tammi: Again thank you. I can't wait to see what happens on this case. I want the truth to be told also. I have never been one to say that my son is perfect, however I will say that No one deserves this beating. No One! We are ready to put it behind us and move on...... And about you let a 6' guy that weighs about 200 lbs swing a bat at your head and see if he can split it open??? you know, just to see if your bat theory is right? I am embarraed that you are even from my home state...

Well Phil, you obviously have inside information as well. In any case, Rogers obviously KNEW he was in the wrong because he RAN AND HID like a little come on now....we can't really call him a man now can we? By the way, a blunt object CAN split your skin open...and if you know so much about this case you need to let the authorities know what happened to his head. Maybe YOU can clear up all the lies in court.

All the comments I have read about this is very interesting. From my perspective, both of these men were in the wrong. Rogers for going over to Burnside's place & Burnside for having a bat. Men who think they have to have a ball bat to protect themselves must not be confident that he could whip someone with his fists. Not much of a man in my opinion. Rogers was man enough to get the bat from him after Burnside hit him first. Burnside can't be much of a man if he really thinks a jury will believe that the gash on his head was done by a baseball bat. A baseball bat is a blunt object. That place on Burnside's head was not done by a baseball bat, believe me. So right there, he is lying. So what else is he lying about? Possibly some of the other injuries also? You can bet if this goes to a trial, the laywer for Rogers will subpeona the medical records on Burnside from that hospital visit. So Burnside better think long & hard about these charges against Rogers & be a man & tell the truth.!!!

It's obvious that Leah knows Rogers and is being fooled by his story. Burnside must have had a reason to arm himself...maybe previous threats from Rogers?? Yeah, I think so. Even IF Burnside hit him first there is no just cause for beating someone to that point unless you truly have some sort of EMOTIONAL issue with that person or an anger management problem. If you think Rogers went to Burnsides home "just to talk" you are in need of a serious reality check. Just because he didn't take a bat doesn't mean he had no intention of harming Burnside. Rogers iniated the call...initiated the meeting..iniated the confrontation and stepped on to private property. Rogers is wrong for all of those things.

Leah, Get ready for the truth... Rogers is in custody. Of course, when arrested, he was no where near Danville. Have you seen his record? Curious; thank you for the support.

Leah, I find it very interesting that you know more about a case than the police know... unless you know Rogers, which means you know the the wherabouts of a "wanted" criminal. Turn him in! My son just had one surgery that may very well damage him for the rest of his life. All as a result of injuries from Rogers. 36 stitches in his head, a broken femur, a broken arm, numerous cuts, bruises and lacerations. 36 stitches in his head.... Are you aware that Rogers hit him app. 20 and 30 times with a baseball bat...Not once.... but 20-30 times. That is assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Atempted murder I do believe.... No one derserves to be beaten to that point...under no cursumstance does that need to occur. I don't believe in violence, and again, no one wins... however, my son is not being charged..Rogers is wanted.... And.. It will be his words and Lindsay's words against my son's.. there were no other witnesses, just pictures of the damage. INHUMANE.

To RLE and Curious: Burnside didn't run because he wanted to get sympathy from the news media and the public. He wanted everyone to believe he was so innocent and none of it was his fault. I think the truth will all come out before long because Rogers can't hide forever. Burnside did do something wrong by having a baseball bat in his hand when all Rogers wanted to do was talk. RLE you live too far away to know what the reports say. All you have to go on is your son's word. What son had not lied to his mother so he won't look bad??? The truth always have a way of coming out and it will in this case too. Burnside "did" hit Rogers first. Just wait and see when Rogers is caught and the case goes to trial. I don't condone violence but if I went to talk to someone and they had a baseball bat in their hands and swung and hit me, you better believe, I would fight back, which by the way is self defense, in case you are not familar with the laws.

If they are both to blame why did only one of them run? If Burnside DID do something wrong at least he is still there to be punished. Speaking of being a real men run and hide? No one will ever know what truly happened because Rogers chose to run.
