Comair Crash Lawsuit Heading To Trial Sooner Than Expected

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The liability lawsuit against Comair for
the August 2006 deadly plane crash in Kentucky is heading to trial
earlier than expected.
A U.S. District judge made a surprise ruling on Tuesday that he
would hear the liability aspects of the case on Aug. 4. The
proceedings would decide who's at fault in the crash.
Comair is based near Cincinnati in Erlanger, Ky.
Judge Karl Forester says he's trying to encourage Comair to
settle with the family members of the 49 people killed in the crash
at Lexington's Blue Grass Airport.
Comair says that it's settled 15 cases already. However, the
airline has stopped settling cases this year because of uncertainty
over whether the Federal Aviation Administration will be added to
the case as a defendant.
