Police Arrest Burglary Suspect After Foot Chase

Police say without their helicopter high above Lexington, they may not have caught a burglary suspect.

A homeowner, who lives on Winburn Drive, says he heard someone, trying to remove his air conditioning unit on Tuesday morning. He says he yelled at the man and then called police.

Police say they were able to track the fleeing suspect from the air and chased the suspect across several streets. At one point, he ran across the interstate, to escape from police.

Police eventually arrested 18-year-old Michael C. Walls. He's been charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary, fleeing and evading and possession of cocaine. Police say Walls may be responsible for other burglaries in the Winburn area.

One officer was hurt during the chase. He was taken to the hospital to have his knee checked out.

@ James Location: Lexington Thats exaclty teh type of thinking that causes more speeding tickets to be issued for minor speeding under 10mph over limit. Not to mention drains so much money we cant even keep the next generation of kids in school because their too busy being arrested. I really hope the cops on your drive to work light you up with their radars and ticket you to get them more money for more tickets. Same as car chases go $100 theft doenst justify endangering innocent life or 2,million in spending.

Listen WOW, I don't care how much it costs to fly the helicopter, if it helps take criminals off the streets, I'm all for it!

James,, I totally agree with all your comments. Since I have lived in Lexington I have seen some great crime solving, and would hate to be a young man trying to get away from the Lexington officers.

@James Location: Lexington COst of flyign a chopper for 1 day is bewteen $1,000-$10,000. They got lucky havign it up already. You think theyd fly one just for a air conditioner theif that didnt even enter the house? WAKE UP its the man that called teh cops that caught him. If he handt called theyd be tellin him theyll probally never catch teh punk. Btw anyone notice its mostly 18-19yrold punks commiting crime in lexington? ANybody wanna start lookin into their parents activitys? They had to learn it some where. After all most thieves dont steal when they have a pocket full of drugs.

Another fine example of good police work and yet no one has stepped up to the plate to thank our fine Officers! So quick to critize and slow to praise. Now if they had crashed a couple of cruisers, there would be plenty of comments, but not when they catch a thief. Pitiful! THANK YOU LEXINGTON'S FINEST!
