Union leaders have been working all weekend to iron out a contract agreement with Okonite plant officials.

The Union President tells 27 NEWSFIRST they've agreed to return to work under the old contract while talks continue.

Union officials say they've also told the company they still have the authority to call a strike at any time should those negotiations break down.

I am totally in support of unions. Where would we be right now if we had never had unions? Do you think that we all might still be owned by the companies that we work for? Oh, wait a minute, that is EXACTLY where we are if we work for a company that does not have a union.

Who gave you the one and only opinion? You tell everybody who aren't in favor of unions ***CRAWL BACK UNDER WHAT EVER ROCK YOU CAME FROM AND STOP MAKING STUPID COMMENTS ON SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!*** Glad to see you are an open-minded individual who let's others voice their opinions. I work a part time job and by default, must belong to a union. Answer this question for me; why does a person who bags groceries part time need a union? Or a cashier for that fact? The harder I work gets me nowhere because I get paid UNION SCALE! As long as a person is doing just enough to get by, there is no room to better oneself. If I work harder, management can't pay me more because they are tied to union scale. Maybe that is the reason some people voice their opinions against unions. Another thing; have you ever seen the houses or cars that belong to union bigwigs? Yeah buddy, much bigger and nicer than yours. Keep paying those union dues, Daddy needs a Corvette next!

THIS COMMENT IS FOR ALL THE NON UNION SUPPORTERS OUT THERE. I JUST SO HAPPEN TO WORK AT OKONITE AND I FEEL THAT WORKING FOR A UNION IS THE ONLY WAY TO WORK. I HAVE HAD JOBS AT OTHER NON UNION FACILITIES AND JUST LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING YOU ARE PRACTICALLY A SLAVE TO THE COMPANY YOU WORK FOR. WORKING CONDITIONS,WAGES,INSURANCE,RETIREMENT, ARE JUST A FEW OF THE MANY THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT. AND FOR THOSE REASONS IS WHY I AM GLAD TO BE A PART OF THE UNION, BECAUSE NOW I DO HAVE A VOICE AND IT WILL BE HEARD. I REFUSE TO BE JUST ANOTHER FACTORY WORKER AND I WILL NOT BE PUSHED AROUND BY A COMPANY THAT GIVES OUT BONUS CHECKS TO SUPERVISORS THAT ARE MORE THAN I MAKE IN A YEAR. AND SOME OF YOU WANT TO LABEL US AS THUGS JUST BECAUSE WE ARE STANDING UP FOR OURSELVES. YOU CLEARLY DON'T HAVE THE INTESTINAL FORTITUDE TO STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK LIKE US. YOU SHOULD JUST GO CRAWL BACK UNDER WHAT EVER ROCK YOU CAME FROM AND STOP MAKING STUPID COMMENTS ON SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!

You hard working union members deserve everything you are fighting for. You're the reason okonite has been so successful and deserve better wages and benefits than they are offering. Don't let them rob you guys, keep standing strong and stay united!
