Baby Found Abandoned Inside Van

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police have been searching for the parents of a newborn baby found inside a van near a church in
Hopkinsville.
A church worker found the baby Sunday afternoon in a van
belonging to the First Street Baptist Church. Police said the baby boy was asleep with a pacifier and wrapped in a blue blanket. Police said the baby was only a few hours old.
Kentucky law allows a parent to leave a baby, less than 72 hours
old, with a hospital emergency room staff worker, a police officer at a police station, a firefighter at a fire station or an emergency medical services provider.
If the parent doesn't contact the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services within 30 days, the parental rights will be terminated.

Childless, God saw fit for her to have this child but his main purpose MAY have been for someone like you, who couldn't have children. and ME! made a great point at least she isn't a monster and that was my first thought, I bet she was watching. May the lord be with her.

I am thankful the baby was found safe, they need to also include chuch's in the safe haven place to leave babies if they leave them with the church preacher or church secretary, there seems to be more babies being left at church.

My husband and I saw this story and we are very interested in adopting this child. We are unable to have children of our own, so we would love to give this child a loving and caring home.

It was wrong of her to leave the baby that way...But at least she didn't kill it and at least she did leave it in a church van knowing it was Sunday and it would be found early. It was not cold enough for it to freeze to death and that gives her a little credit. At least she is not a monster like the girl who tried to flush one down the toilet. She had to have had some love (no matter how it looks) to make sure it was found. I bet she watched until it was discovered too.

We have tried for 7 years to get pregnant.... God has not blessed us with one, I suppose it isn't meant to be. God saw fit for these 2 people to be parents and they don't want that precious gift. There is help out there if they think they can't afford to keep him. She is probably a young mother. Think wisely. There is more compassion in the world that meets the eye.

At least they didn't kill this child! It is safe and ready for a new home! I say, just be thankful that they didn't kill it! Go after them if they kill the baby, but leave them alone if they leave it anywhere that it can be safe and ready for a new home!

I personally think that the ones that abandoned the baby in a van should have legal rights terminated already not 30 days later, that baby isn't a puppy or kitten that was set off on the side of the road, thats a precious human life that was just tossed aside, it makes me sick to even hear the child was left the way it was..some people are just too ignorant to cherish what they are able to have, I can't have a child do to medical reasons and would thank God everyday if he had given me the chance to have a child, instead ignorant people get blessed with his precious gifts, that baby needs placed in a loving home with people that aren't gonna leave it anywhere alone to be found. and put the one who gave birth in jail, I refuse to call her its mother because what was done with this child she doesn't deserve that title!
