FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican Daniel London says he's dropping out of the campaign to replace Congressman Ron Lewis in Kentucky's 2nd District.
London said in a statement Thursday that it was a hard decision but said after speaking and praying with his wife that it was the best decision for their family.
London entered the Republican primary just moments before the filing deadline last week when Lewis abruptly withdrew as a candidate. London previously worked as Lewis' chief of staff but resigned after filing as a candidate.
London's decision to exit the race clears the way for state Sen. Brett Guthrie of Bowling Green to win the Republican nomination. London pledged his support to Guthrie.
Democrats in the race are state Sen. David Boswell of Owensboro and Daviess County Judge-Executive Reid Haire.
