Vandy Blows Out Kentucky in Nashville, 93-52

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Shan Foster scored 20 points and A.J. Ogilvy added 19 points and 12 rebounds as No. 24 Vanderbilt handed the NCAA's winningest team one of its worst losses in decades, by beating Kentucky 93-52 on Tuesday night.

The Commodores (21-4, 6-4 Southeastern Conference) started a four-game homestand by winning their fourth straight. The only SEC team to open league play with six of their first nine away from home had lost 79-73 in double-overtime at Kentucky on Jan. 12.

They more than got their revenge before a sold-out crowd.

It was the worse loss for Kentucky (12-10, 6-3) since losing by 55 to Kansas on Dec. 9, 1989. Making it sweeter for Vandy? This 41-point margin matched a 52-11 loss to Rose Polytechnic on Feb. 10, 1910, as the fifth-biggest loss in Wildcats' history.

Kentucky native Ross Neltner added 15 points for Vanderbilt, and Jermaine Beal had 10.

Ramel Bradley scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half for Kentucky, Joe Crawford had 11 and Patrick Patterson 10.

People stop the Tubby bashing. Being from W.Va. myself I can assure you that Patrick came to ky. because of Tubby. Yes I was a huge fan of Tubby, but actually a bigger fan of the team, no matter who the coach is. If you can "coach" better yourself or "recruit" better then why I don't see any of you out there doing it?? Support the team win or lose...that is KY. tradition, not coach bashing!

This game was a character builder, i expect the cats will play with alot more fire next time. I also disagree with the post that says tubby left us with no talent, all of these young men are very good or they wouldn't be Wildcats. Fans support there teams win or lose, those of you trashing this game are hardly fans, your really just whiners.

Just like Kentucky fans to blame the coach and not the players. Granted, the coach has a lot of responsibility in the game, but the players must LISTEN and follow direction. The Wildcats (edited) who have never been taught that they are not invincible. Just because you are a member of one of the most legendary teams in college basketball does not make you a great player. You are just there until you step up and play the game. I'm sick of people saying the coaches are the ones who are fully responsible for losses. The players need to learn how to PLAY!!!!

Why can't someone just say that Vandy was the better team and quit saying negative things about UK? Vandy deserves some credit for the butt whooping they gave us. It's not all because UK played terrible; Vandy has a darn good team this year. Give them some Kudos.

I think everyone should not be so hard on the coach or the players. I mean sure it was a really bad loss, sure we looked like crap out there. But do you think the coach and the team dont know that. I like billy, I think he is going to do great things at Kentucky. He is a very smart man. Vandy just came out more hungry for the win cause they knew we beat them last time and they wasnt going to let it happen again. I hated that game, it was horrible, but what can you do? You sure can't dwell on the past, there is too much waiting for us in the future. All I can say is "Beat us while you can cause this time next year I believe Kentucky will be unstoppable." GO CATS!!!

Yes..UK got thrashed. It was horrible. But everyone wants to play the blame game. Well, to me, I think the players had alot to do with it..lol. They have been playing ball half thier lives. They just couldnt do anything against Vandy. I think Billy G. is doing a good job...everyone in KY expects a miracle (including me) but we must give hime time. Its a rebuilding year(or 2 or 3)but I think Billy will get us where we need to be. Tubby is always brought up..he was a good man but it was time for a change. C'mon people ..support our Kentucky Wildcats...whether they win or lose. Quit whining or go recruit yourself and see if u can do better. Go Wildcats!!!

If you are giving a mess it takes time to get things going in the right direction. This season has been better than I expected I figured it would be a write off but they have showed progress.I think they got a case of Big head and that last game just brought them back to reality.Give it time Nobody can work magic with the mess that he walked into.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO REMEMBER A GAME BETWEEN KANSAS AND UK ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO. RICK PITINO'S FIRST YEAR AND HE WAS SMACKED IN THE FACE WITH A 55 POINT LOSS THERE. LOOK WHAT HE TURNED INTO. ONE OF THE GREATEST COACHES EVER. THIS IS BILLY'S FIRST YEAR WITH TUBBY'S SCRAPS, MINUS THE "HOSS" PATRICK PATTERSON. PATTERSON IS THE CALIBER OF PLAYERS THAT WILL FREQUENT UK UNIFORMS OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS. BILLY G WILL BE IN THE FINAL 4 IN LESS THAN 3 YEARS. AND UNLIKE TUBBY'S FIRST APPERANCE IT WILL BE WITH HIS OWN PLAYERS NOT ANOTHER COACHES. YOU PEOPLE NEED TO REMEMBER SOMETHING, IF TUBBY WOULD HAVE STAYED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME TEAM MINUS PATTERSON. YOU ALL KNOW THAT HE WOULD HAVE WENT TO FLORIDA IF IT WAS NOT FOR BILLY G. STOP HATING AND GIVE HIM A CHANCE TO BRING "HIS GUYS IN". UK BASKETABLL WILL RISE IN THE NEAR FUTURE AND IT WILL BE GREAT......STARTING NEXT YEAR WITH A NCAA BID.

When he gets that the needs to play his style of ball KY will be fine. He has an amazing two year track record. Besides Tubby saw the light he new what was in store for our beloved wildcats this season. He got the heck outta dodge, to go to a place where if he wins great, if he doesn't well thats fine too. All you Gillespie haters don't be his fans when he turns it around. Sure the coach gets paid and he is an adult. BUT.......... does he make the turnovers, miss the shots, the stupid fouls? NO..NO..NO He can scream, yell, sweet talk, beg, and plead. All he can do is put the players in the game and teach them the plays at prac. HE can't do it for them. To me it was just a non showing of heart by the KY players.

Yeah look at what Tubbys done. Left us with zero talent coming in to help out. If it weren't for Billy Clyde bringing in Patrick Patterson we'd be way worse off. If Tubby was still coach we wouldn't be 12&10 more like 6&16. Wake up people. We are rebuilding. Gillispie will lead us back to the Championship.
