Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Bans Non-celibate Gays From Ministry

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - The highest court of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) ruled that there are no exceptions to the church's ban on ordaining non-celibate gays and lesbians.

The ruling, issued last week by the Louisville-based church, ends hopes of some that the policy adopted in 2006 would allow regional governing bodies flexibility in enforcing the rule.

The constitution gives "freedom of conscience" to disagree with church law, which restricts ordination to singles living in chastity" or those living in "fidelity" in a heterosexual marriage, the court ruled.

But the constitution "does not permit disobedience to those behavioral standards," according to the court, known as the General Assembly Permanent Judicial Commission.
"
The fidelity and chastity provision may only be changed by a constitutional amendment," it said. Unless that happens, everyone
"must adhere to it."

The ruling drew praise from conservative groups, such as Presbyterians for Renewal in Louisville.

Sir Inq. and Ben, so are you like Neal and Bob or is that what you do?

The Adam Eve/Adam Steve comment is so juvenile. Leave your bedtime story rational to your 4 year old. As an adult, I don't like being talked to like I have the intellect of a toddler. I pity people base their beliefs/opinions based off idiotic one-liners that could only come from a hateful and simplistic mind. If you are against the life-style, fine. But don't for a miniute think that the whole Adam/Steve argument does anything other than make you look like someone with the intellect of a child.

Just a question, but who then created Steve (of the infamous, Adam and Steve)? Do we really even care about the sexual orientation of others? It's obvious there are much larger, more pressing issues we should focus our attention on than the sexual appetite of consenting adults. Grow up, people!

God created Adam and Eve....not Adam and Steve. It is immoral to be gay under God's rules. How can any religion uphold a member for it? It is wrong throughout the Holy Bible. How can people act like it is ok? God destroyed cities for it. What do you think he will do here for it being condoned? It was wrong then and it is wrong now.
