Mayor To Discuss Expected Sewer Tax Increase Today

Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry plans to talk sewers Tuesday.

The city is expected to reach a deal with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency over a lawsuit filed against the city for violations of the Clean Water Act.

The deal could mean higher sewer bills for Lexington residents.

The Urban County Council will decide during a work session Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. on whether to approve the deal with the EPA.

If that deal is reached, then Mayor Newberry will give his address Tuesday night.

According to the mayor's office, the agreement is subject to a strict confidentiality agreement.

The mayor's address is scheduled to air live on GTV 3 for Lexington Insight Cable customers at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

You can also see it live on the city's web site.
