Kentucky National Guard Unit To Deploy To Iraq

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky National Guard officials say a
military police unit will be deployed to Iraq.

djutant General Edward Tonini says the Kentucky Army National
Guard's Louisville-based 223rd Military Police Company will train
at Fort Dix, New Jersey, before deploying to Iraq to perform
military police duties.

A departure ceremony for the more than 180 soldiers is being
held at 4 p.m. EST Wednesday in Louisville.

It is the second time the unit has been deployed to Iraq. One
soldier was killed during the unit's nine-month deployment in 2003.
