Arrest Made Stemming From U.S. Beef Recall

A meatpacking worker is charged with animal cruelty in a case stemming from the biggest beef recall in U.S. history.

Pen manager Daniel Navarro was arrested at his home in California. Navarro worked at the Westland/Hallmark Meat Company.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture recalled more than 140-million pounds of beef shipped by the company after graphic undercover video surfaced showing crippled, sick cows being slaughtered for shipment.

Navarro was charged with five felony counts of animal abuse, and three misdemeanors. Those charges could carry almost six years in prison if convicted.
