CDC Sickness Survey To Take Place In Southern KY

Does closing schools for illness work?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will conduct a survey in Whitley County to see what affect closings had on the families and communities.

The Times Tribune says the CDC survey will try to determine how closings affected parents in making childcare arrangements. It will also seek parents' input about ways to prevent illness.

How does closing a school (such as the times to clean for MRSA) work? The custodial staff come in and scrub the place clean but mysteriously the bacteria comes back... It's the STUDENTS! Teaching simple handwashing techniques and common sense hygiene practices would help the situation. MRSA has been in hospitals for years but with hand washing and other clean practices, these types of things can be avoided to a much greater extent.
