Murray State Bans Sexual Orientation Discrimination

MURRAY, Ky. (AP) - Murray State University's board of regents have added language that includes sexual orientation in its non-discrimination policy.

The board voted on Friday for the change, which bans the university from discriminating against gay and lesbian students, staff and faculty.

Seven members voted in favor of the change; three voted against it and another member abstained.

Board Chairman Alan Stout says Murray State was the only public university in Kentucky that didn't have that wording in its nondiscrimination policy.

Board member Bill Adams, who voted no, says he was concerned the
change would open the door to future expectations and possible
benefits.

geez Joe of Stanton, I thought I covered the whole range of un-natural and natural among us. Seems you may be in another unreported discriminated against natural/un-natural sex group. File a lawsuit asap.

People act like the Gay people are the only ones doing un-natural sex acts when in reality is that almost all of us do un-natural sex acts. Any sex act without the possibility of conceiving a baby is an un-natural sex act. There shouldn't be discrimination in the first place when everyone is doing it. Zatoichi how would you like to be judged by your un-natural sex acts. I am sure you have done more then one in eyes of GOD. People just assume if you are straight un-natural sex isn't a sin.

Why don't you just say "No discrimination, period." Of course that would not satisfy all the victimized groups, right? Would not want our trans/bi/metro/homo/hetero/obama-sexuals feelings hurt, now would we?

Good for Murray State. I will tell you that this is one reason why I never seriously considered them for college because I knew that in rural parts of the state, if you don't have some kind of policy like that...some redneck would use it as a reason to dismiss you from the university or keep you from being able to hold positions (SG president, etc). I'm glad they've changed their tune but am disturbed that Bill Adams used a BS excuse to vote no, it has nothing to do with benefits or any other "door openings", it has to do with treating everyone the same when it comes to employment and recruitment for their school...and if he doesn't think that's important, then I think Gov Beshear should be sure that he doesn't get re-nominated for his position.
