FLOYD COUNTY, KY - A Floyd County teenage woman was killed, an older man critically injured and a teenage male slightly injured when their car careened over a hillside on a remote mine access road in Floyd County Saturday night.
All three occupants were thrown from the vehicle in the crash after the car traveled 150 feet over an embankment. A KSP news release states they could not determine who had been driving the car. The accident occured about 10:30 p.m. in the David Community area of Floyd County.
Nineteen-year-old Angela Whitaker of 5895 KY Route 404 in David was killed in the crash. She was declared dead at the scene by Floyd County Deputy Coroner Greg Nelson.
Thirty-seven-year old Joe Poe of 158 KY Route 404 in David sustained "traumatic head injuries." Nineteen-year old Kevin Ousley of 126 Salyers Dr. in Hueysville received minor injuries. Both were transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va. where Poe was listed in critical condition Saturday night.
State police say toxicology reports on all three occupants are pending. The accident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Eric Gibson.
