"Stapler Bandit" Pleads Guilty

CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky man has pleaded guilty to using a chrome-plated, pistol-grip staple gun to rob an ice- ream parlor and a fast-food restaurant.

Gerald A. Rocchi admitted Monday to holding up The Ice Cream Shop in Ashland and a Wendy's last fall. He was caught shortly after taking $195 from the ice cream parlor.

Rocchi reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that called for concurrent 10-year sentences. Rocchi won't be eligible for parole until he has served 85 percent of the sentence because a weapon was involved.

Under Kentucky law, the stapler qualifies as a weapon since the 32-year-old Rocchi told victims it was a gun and hid it from view.

Judge Marc Rosen will formally sentence Rocchi on April 9.

I hope this was a pneumatic type staple pistol and he had a generator, compressor, and airhose in the back of his truck in the parking lot during the robbery. Classic

If you outlaw staplers, only outlaws will have staplers. The chrome-plated stapler is one of the most dangerous semi-automatic staplers on the market. You can see these staplers being traded at flea markets, unfettered by stapler laws, everywhere.

Its the making people fear for their live sthat gets bigger sentences. SO if any of you reading this are planning a robbery simply walk up to any non bank counter and demand money. Dont act liek you have a weapon and its just robbery instead of armed robbery. Guess nobody told him that lol.
