A suspected burglar has been released from the hospital after a homeowner shot him in Harrison County late Sunday night.

The sheriff says a man who lives on Old Lair Road came home to find two burglars on his property.

The owner shot one of the men, Thomas Terysian, 25, while the other suspect got away.

Terysian, who's from Paris, went to the hospital with gunshot wounds to a hand and forearm.

He's expected to be all right.

Police don't have a name for the second suspect. Police say two other homes on Old Lair Road were broken into Sunday night and burglars tried to break into two more homes.

The sheriff says the homeowner won't be charged.

a little more to the left and up should've done the trick! Next time, use a little Kentucky windage and we'd be free of another Kentucky Tax Payer supported thug! Governor Beshear's been talking about thinning out the jails. If there were more citizens like this homeowner, the jails wouldn't have to worry!

Dear Anon - Dude you didn't have to bring up Tom's brother.. so many times people are judged by something that a family member has done! Tim is a pillar in this community and a great Man, Unfortunatly his brother has turned to drugs and I know that Tim cut contact with him some time ago. Tim and his family should not be judged, I know that they are carring a heavy load just being associated with this whole mess.

WEll done... Too bad you did'nt get the other one too. As things are here in our area, I cannot help but wonder if your and my tax dollars are probably paying hospital bill with the big " Card " that we the working class do not get....

THIS IS TO THE H.C CITIZEN. I FEEL THE SAME AS YOU DO ABOUT HAVING TO CHECK THE WINDOWS AND DOORS NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE HEARD THAT ONE OF THE THUGS GOT OUT OF THE SITUATION SCOTT FREE NO PUNISHMENT OR ANYTHING. I HEARD HE HAS A CRIMINAL PAST AS WELL. SO I DON'T THINK HE WILL HAVE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM THIS!!! NO THAN LIKELY GIVEN SOME TIME HE WILL PROABLY STRIKE AGAIN. NEXT TIME HE MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY.

I know the family in this case. The homeowner also has a wife and two young kids. He could have killed had he wanted too. I just hope these two thugs are off the streets. This is within one mile of my house. It's bad when you check all windows and doors multiple times each evening because of all the thefts and breakins. Good going homeowner. I would say he has kept many homes from being broke in by these men in the future.

My house is one of the houses that was robbed. Its a very scary things to go through knowing someone you don't know went from room to room, went through everything you own and stole from your family. I'm glad my neighbor shot the guy and held him there until the ploice arrived. I just wish I would of met the robber face to face and told him what I thought. It might help my family sleep better and not be scared of the dark. I'm glad that the police didn't arrest the homeowner who shot the burgaler, he deverse a metal for his courage. Thank You Neighbor! No matter how safe you think your house is, its NOT! Always think before you do! Create a plan with your family on what to do when a break in accurs, never answer your door after dark, yell through the door "go away or I'm calling the police", and add a loud alarm system, and have something close you can grab for protection. We have learned you can never be too safe even in your own home.

Remember what my Grandfather always said if you ever aim your gun at anyone "shoot to kill because a dead man tells no tales"

Why can't I get in on the action? I eat, sleep and play with guns praying one of you thugs visit me.

should have shot both his hands off then he never steal again. people work hard to get what they get then trash like this comes in tryes to take it.. next time try it between the eyes

Good! Keep up the good work!!!

Posted by: Jennifer Location: Irvine on Mar 11, 2008 at 05:57 PM
I hope these people get the point,We are sick of working for a life for our families just for some low life drug addict to still it. I say protect whats your, Just think what if he had been home in bed, enough is enough.

Posted by: J Location: Lexington on Mar 11, 2008 at 11:14 AM
Al is right - you have to shoot to kill. Poor homeowner will probably end up in court. Goes to show we all need to be prepared, no matter where you are theft is on the rise. Go to a gun range practice then get your concealed carry license..its the only way to go. Cops are never going to get there faster than your gun..

Remember football standout Tim Perysian from Bourbon County a few years back, well nice to know how his brother turned out.

Posted by: j Location: Ky. on Mar 11, 2008 at 08:35 AM
If more of these thugs thought about getting their sticky finger shot off then they might think twice about trying to take what doesn't belong to them.

Posted by: Jeb Location: KY on Mar 11, 2008 at 07:51 AM
Al is right! I remember a news story about 20 years ago in which a homeowner shot a burglar in the foot. The burglar sued saying his livlihood was taken away. The jury sided in his favor...it's a true story; you can't make this stuff up. I hope next time the guy shoots better.

Posted by: J Location: KY on Mar 11, 2008 at 07:07 AM
Amen Al, you got it right!! Shows how our "justice" system is lacking.

Posted by: faye Location: cynthiana on Mar 11, 2008 at 06:49 AM
if theives get more of what happened to this one they might think twice. we all work hard to get what we have and theives just think that they can just walk in and take it think again. go homeowner. think rehab drugies and leave our home alone and get a JOB

Posted by: nancy Location: mt.sterling on Mar 11, 2008 at 02:04 AM
WAY TO GO HOMEOWNER!!!

Posted by: Anna Location: Georgetown on Mar 10, 2008 at 11:04 PM
My hat is off to this homeowner!!! Not a day goes by that you don't hear of someone's home being broken into and generally they are not caught or there are tragic results for the homeowner. These low-lives have to be stopped and this homeowner did a good job.

Posted by: donny Location: ky on Mar 10, 2008 at 10:10 PM
well i hope they think twise before they go back there..been nice if he had put them out of businesee for good but maybe they wont go to his home any more..

Posted by: Ben Location: Georgetown on Mar 10, 2008 at 07:11 PM

Posted by: mark Location: georgetown on Mar 10, 2008 at 04:23 PM
Hospital??, too bad it wasn't the morgue.. They both deserve it!!

Posted by: Henry Location: Lex on Mar 10, 2008 at 03:10 PM
To the home owner. Next time practice gun control. Use both hands!!

Posted by: Big 'C' Location: Breathitt Co. on Mar 10, 2008 at 03:07 PM
I'm glad to hear this. I agree partly with Al. It's too bad the coroner didn't have to come and get them. Probably druggies trying to support their habit.

Posted by: Rick Location: Georgetown on Mar 10, 2008 at 01:52 PM
Castle law in action baby!!!!

Posted by: JC Location: MADISON COUNTY on Mar 10, 2008 at 01:13 PM
Go homeowner!!!!! However, Al is probably correct. Some crooked attorney will probably twist it all around and make the burglar the victim.

Posted by: Harrison County Resident Location: Harrison County on Mar 10, 2008 at 01:02 PM
To bad that he chose to only harm the guy and not kill him. I agree with Al Location, there will be a lawyer out there who will choose to defend this low life excuse for a human being. Anyways a big applause for the home owner who decided to defend his home, it is about time that the law abiding citizens take back their communities and protect them from the low lifes that seem to think they are in charge. As a citizen of Harrison County, that is more than likely the only way that these crooks will be run out of town, because God only knows the cops here are to busy attending to about 2 percent of the Village idiots who in turn commit 99 percent of the crime. If you don't believe me then I encourage all to get a scanner and program in the frequencies for the Cynthiana Police, and Harrison County Sheriff's Office and see if you don't keep hearing the same names, addresses, etc. being transmitted over the air. Now is the time to teach law abiding citizen's how to shoot to kill.

You're right Al! The criminals ALWAYS have more rights than the victims! The homeowners should have killed the thief, then he wouldn't have to worry about losing what belongs to him. I would have aimed for this head not his arm! These judges & lawyers need to be disbarred when they give the criminals more protection than they do the victims! I say we should be allowed to protect our property & person WITHOUT ever being sued by the criminal(s)! Perhaps our lawmakers could pass a law that protects US from the criminals & their lawyers!

Posted by: David Location: Frankfort on Mar 10, 2008 at 12:49 PM
Next time let the thief take about four steps inside the home then shoot him. That way which ever direction he falls he's inside the home and the homeowner can claim self defense.

Posted by: Early Cuyler Location: Squidville on Mar 10, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Shame he did not get them both! This makes a good argument for High Capacity magazines! lol

Posted by: TJ Location: Corbin on Mar 10, 2008 at 11:12 AM
Way to go homeowner, I bet he thinks twice before he does that again. Let this be a warning to the rest of thieves.

Posted by: Al Location: London on Mar 10, 2008 at 10:16 AM
Just wait and see, a lawyer will help the one armed thief with a lawsuit against the homeowner. His argument will be that the one armed thief can no longer steal anything over 20lbs because it will throw off his balance not allowing him to make a clean getaway. The judge will side with the thief. He will be awarded the homeowners property and will be supported by the tax payers for the rest of his life. The moral of the story is… use steadier aim.

Posted by: Me! Location: Ky on Mar 10, 2008 at 09:05 AM
It's about time these thieves get what they deserve!!!!!I wish he had got both of them.
