Man Charged With Murder Pleads Guilty To Lesser Charge In DUI

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A man facing murder charges has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree manslaughter in a 2007 crash near Fort Campbell.
Police say 25-year-old Daniel Lamar King of Clarksville, Tenn., was driving in the wrong direction on Fort Campbell Boulevard in February 2007 when his truck collided with a car driven by 27-year-old Christina Vertz. She died on the scene.
Authorities say blood tests show King's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit.
King also pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and driving without insurance.
He is scheduled to be sentenced May 13.
