State Police continue to investigate the shooting death of 42-year-old Billy Buttry.

It happened Sunday night on Maple Grove road near Richmond. Police say Jeannie Buttry shot her husband, Billy Buttry, once in the chest, killing him. She says she shot him after a fight broke out between Billy and her son, 22-year-old Dean Buttry.

Jeannie says it was self-defense and had no choice but to shoot her husband.

So far, she has not been charged. 27NEWSFIRST did talk to Billy Buttry's family who says he was murdered.

"Jeannie has never loved him. I think she planned it and had time to make up a story before police arrived." Billy's mom, Christine Buttry said.

She also tells 27NEWSFIRST her son was just trying to break up a fight between Dean and his wife Keisha when their already rocky father-son relationship errupted.

"He was one of a kind and we've learned new information, which we are not going to say right now, but it's not good for Jeannie or Dean," said Christine Buttry.

Billy Buttry would have turned 43 on Wednesday. The case is still under investigation and is now going to the grand jury.

I am Dean's wife and I was there while this tragedy happened. The story from Billy's family is a complete lie. However, we will not be commenting to the news or anyone on what actually happened until after the ruling. It is best that we not say anything to not fuel the media driven fire. This will be said, the only people in the house during this argument was as listed Dean, Jeannie, myself Keshia and my daughter Jade. No one else was there while this happened and the police would not and could not disclose any information to anyone including his family.

To WOW in Richmond: I think you meant to use the word "raise" versus "raze." Raze means to demolish or tear down. But then again, looking at this story, it might be the right choice of word..LOL!

We don't know what all the facts are. I do know that domestic violence is quickly becoming the #1 problem in the state. Regardless, in an escalting situation, when a gun is involved, there is always the possiblity of one shooting another. If this man was beating on someone, bad enough to result in that person's bones breaking, then he put himself in the position to be stopped by whatever means the victims had. It appears the man became a victim of his own gun...thus...perhaps this is a sick example of poetic justice.

I agree with Tess...where's the compassion for Dean? It's almost like they're accusing him as well, even though he was physically hurt by his father Billy. It's a devestating situation for both sides, but I would have done the same thing as Jeannie. And I think any caring parent would agree. You protect your children no matter what or who. With the physical evidence, I don't think anything like this could have been "planned". Would Billy's mother or siblings not have tried to protect him in the same kind of situation? I would say....probably so. That's all Jeannie was doing, protecting her child.

I just wanted to say that I use to work with Dean and he is a really nice guy. He was always very friendly to me and very kind. I hardly believe he helped plan to kill his father.

Mean people raze mean people. What kinda of father beats his son with a gun? Obviously he was attacking him and unless there is more REAL evidence not just the departed's familys hear say she shouldnt be charged. Maybe the wife didnt love him because he was beating her and her kid yet she knew if she left shed be killed? Thats pretty common these days now isnt it?
