Eastern Kentucky Woman Charged With Stealing From Bingo Funds

PINEVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A former treasurer who oversaw bingo games
has been indicted on 97 counts of diverting funds and forgery.

A grand jury charged Julie L. Weedman, 36, of Evarts, last week.
Weedman is the former treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans
of Foreign Wars Lodge 11139 in Middlesboro.

Prosecutors say Weedman diverted an estimated $17,000 from the
VFW over an unknown period of time until she was arrested in July.

The missing funds came to light in the fall of 2006, when a bank
notified the charity's president, Patricia Howard, that a check

The state Office of Charitable Gaming conducted an investigation
during which Weedman was questioned and the charity's financial
records were examined.

    Quit smoking that funny stuff and you might realize you posted your comment about gas prices under a story about a money stealing bingo thief. The reason he can't fix gas prices (to answer your question) is because it's a commodity traded on the stock exchange. He doesn't have that kind of power (thank God!).

    Well, under the governor's new alternatives to incarnations plan, this woman will not get a thing for her theft! Heck, I doubt under his plan, that she will even have to pay back the money she took! She'll be free to steal from someone else in the future!

    this is to a previous post from kay in lexington. I don't believe the president of a ladies charity has any authority to do anything about gas prices. In reference to the story; I hope Ms. Weedman serves time over her actions.
