Hundreds Of Mexicans Gather At Lexington Bank

A massive crowd gathered Wednesday morning on Versailles Road.

Around 400 people stood in line, draped around the Fifth-Third Bank. They were there, hoping to get a ticket that would allow them to meet with the Mexican Consulate next month.

The Consulate is in Indianapolis, a distance many people can't travel. Wednesday was the only opportunity people in the Lexington are had to register to talk to the Consulate when the office comes to Lexington April 12th.

Folks from Mexico meet with the consulate to handle any needed legal matters and to update documents like passports and/or work visas.

Mexican people are some of the most honest and loyal people you'll ever meet! They have every right to be here among us, we should be more kind to our neighbor's and help them out instead of denying them a better life. The Mexican people were here before most of us in the West, the bordering states were at one time MEXICO. until the American's realized there was oil there and basicly bought these states out of greed.I am sadened by the negotive comment's and realize that racism still exists in this country. You should be ashamed! Every person deserves a better chance at life and to deny good people the chance is disgusting to me and most people that truly have heart!!

It said to UPDATE visas and passports. It didn't say they were here stealing our jobs.

Wednesday night this week was Mexican day in Frankfort at the local Wal-Mart. I was there getting a few items and felt like I was in Mexico as they out numbered American folks at least 6 to 1. Also 02 of the items that I got was all placed on the shelf with the Mexican language side on display.

I bet every single one of you have ancestors who were immigrants. Take a look at yourself before you start talking. Americans are lazy brats who sit on their butts, and Hispanics are here not to take our jobs but to take the jobs we don't want. In addition, America is a big "soup pot". We are made up of many cultures and languages. If Kentuckians would actually cross the state border, they would know this. And for your information, we do not have an official language. Even the people who speak English, can't write or speak it right anyways (I believe Kentuckians are the perfect example). It's a free country, let them speak their language and you do the same. Plus, I think the fact that most of the people in our country (including natural born citizens) can't even say the Pledge of Allegiance is worse.

quit blaming immigrants for your problems. who here can honestly say they lost a well paying job because an immigrant came here from mexico and took it from them? i have a much bigger problem with jobs being sent to other countries, leaving americans out of work. you can blame your fellow white citizens and government for that in most cases. by the way, it is common for students in many other countries to learn english as part of their school curriculum and has been for years. american students have been taught spanish for decades as well, long before illegal immigration became a big issue. why do you have so much hostility towards learning another language? if you don't want to learn spanish, don't learn spanish, but don't act like it's absurd to do so.
