The driver of a car that rammed into a cruiser two months ago killing a Bell County Sheriff's deputy and his police dog will be tried as an adult.

17 year old David Poppiti of Delaware is charged with the murder of Deputy Sean Pursifull. Police chased Poppiti and a 16 year old passenger in January after a gas station drive-off in Harlan County. During a high speed chase that followed, their car rammed into Pursifull's parked cruiser.

The 16 year old is charged with complicity to murder. His case will remain in juvenile court.

Poppiti's cousin told us Wednesday he was an inexperienced driver running scared on a curvy road.

Another school, Page Elementary, came forward Wednesday with more than $1,200 dollars for the fund for another K-9 for the Bell County Sheriff's Department. Most of the $25,000 dollars needed is already raised.

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.

i'm sure if the state coudl have made a case against the passenger he would have been tried as an adult too. even though most people think both boys shoudl have gone to adult court you have to remember there is a legal system for a reason and id say it woudl be hard to prove elements of murder on a passenger. he will still get a punishment and be held accountable just in juvenile court so he can only be held until hes 18 so hes not getting off scotch free. the judge had to follow the law here.

Thay should be put in prison for the rest of there life. i mean with real harden criminals both of them. thay should never have a real life again for what thay did to this family. thats the troble with the world today. there familys dont wont to be responsibile for them and thay sure dont wont to be accountable for there selfs because its to easy to cop out just because thay are teens.the world would certainly be a better place to live inn if only we had decent judges to see that thay are punished more for there crimes.

the passenger should be tried as a adult as well. he knew what was going on, he could have stopped and not got back in that car at the gas station they stole gas from. who was the idiotic judge in that redneck hole that let him off the hook? Redneck judges in Bell County!

That story might work except for the fact the driver made it around a notoriously dangerous curve just a few miles before. The curve where this happened was rather mild. If he drove from Deleware or thereabouts, he picked up a lot of experience.

I have hope that these boys will get what they deserve. My thoughts would be for them to lose their life and any chance of a future ... seeing as how that is what they did not only to Dept. Pursifull but to his family.

i hope they try the driver as a adult and it should go to the grand jury and he should get the stiffess penality and as for the passenger i think they should just charge him with the robbery cause he had no control over the drivers actions god be with the family of sean pursiful
