Abe Lincoln has a face-lift. The new five-dollar bill is out today.
The 5 dollar bill still bears the traditional image of the 16th president, but with some touches of color added to help prevent counterfeiters. The U.S. is shipping the bills to banks today, which then distribute the money to businesses and eventually into the hands of the public. The old fives will remain in circulation until they wear out.
The makeover is similar to changes to the 10s, 20s and 50s already in use.
