Morehead State Elects First Woman Chair

MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) - Sylvia Lovely has been elected the first
woman chair of Morehead State University's Board of Regents.

Lovely was selected to the post during a board meeting Thursday.
She is the executive director and chief executive officer of the
Kentucky League of Cities.

She succeeds James Booth, who had been board chair since 2004.

Lovely is a former chair of the Kentucky Center for Public
Policy and a Morehead State graduate. She earned a law degree from
the University of Kentucky and is an adjunct faculty member of the
UK Martin School of Public Policy and Administration.

In 2006, Lovely was awarded Kentucky's highest honor for public
service, the Vic Hellard Award. She resides in Lexington with her
husband, Bernie, and two sons, Ross and David.
