Funeral For Man Shot By Wife In Madison County

Funeral services were held Friday for a Madison County man, shot and killed by his wife.

Billy Buttry died on Sunday night. His wife, Jeannie, says he was fighting with her son, Dean, and she shot her husband to protect her son.

Jeannie Buttry planned the funeral. There were two separate services: one for her family, one for his because of concerns about a confrontation.

So far, no charges have been filed, but police say they will take the case to the grand jury.

The mother and siblings were told they could not go to the burial and the father chose not to , who would want to come face to face with someone that had just killed their loved one . Out of respect the body should have been turned over to his family at least that would have shown a little bit of remorse for what happened .

From what I understand (information from a friend that attended the funeral services), there were two seperate services, but all were allowed/invited to attend the burial services. Billy's mother, father and siblings chose not to attend.

A woman that killed her husband is allowed to keep his family that loves him from attending his funeral. What is wrong with this picture? Maybe the law is right & maybe she killed him to save her adult son...but maybe they will find out its something different. When someone kills another, no matter the reason, they should not have the authority to keep the deads family away. That just isn't fair to the Mom & Dad. And besides, if someone made me kill them I wouldn't want the responsibility of having to bury them or do anything else for them.

i dont think that the law is right that if a husband or wife is involve in the death of husband or wife, innocent or guilty they should not be able to plan the others funerals, because of the tense between the familys. i would like for people to write to their senaters and congressmen to get this law change. please this could happen to you believe me you dont want this to happen in your family. i just cant say this enough please/ please/ please/ write or call them or send a letter to so we can get this started . maybe the next family want have to go through this.its unbearable/// just think how you would feel if you were the mother and father of the deceased child and you how no rights to your son or daughter, but the one that killed them did by law...........
