Atlanta Tornado Sparks Action At Rupp

The scare at the Georgia Dome raised new awareness about making sure venues like Rupp Arena have an emergency plan in place.

Billy Owen is the President of the Lexington Center. He says officials at Rupp Arena are treating Friday's tornado in Atlanta as a wake up call here in the bluegrass.

He says the SEC tournament tornado reinforced the importance of training and split second decision making and with a capacity crowd of nearly 23,000 people at Rupp officials say when it comes to a disaster they have to avoid one thing panic.

The Atlanta tornado comes just before a big week here at Rupp. Owens says those planning to attend this weeks sweet sixteen high school basketball games should have no fear of entering an unprepared area.

He says Rupp Arena has an emergency action plan and the staff must perform mock exercises to get ready.
