Stabbing Suspect Turns Himself In To Police

A man police say stabbed his friend in the neck and chest during an argument has turned himself in to police.

24-year-old Michael Maupin surrendered to police on Wednesday night. He's charged with first degree assault.

Police say the stabbing happened at around 4:30 Wednesday morning at an apartment complex on Lindenhurst Drive. That's off Palumbo Drive.

The victim, Eric Sparks is now in serious condition at UK hospital.

Sparks' girlfriend, who witnessed the alleged attack, says Maupin assaulted Sparks with a steak knife. Both she and Sparks have been interviewed by police.

Stabbed his "friend" with a steak knife. 98% of the time that would have to be over a woman, money, drugs, or just drunk and stupid. Like murphys law says "friendly fire isn't".

Ya know...everytime a stabbing or robbery happens in Lexington or Richmond 99% of the time it turns out to be someone black! Why? Do these people have anger issues or what? And it is usually something to do with drugs or something of that nature. Frankly, I know people are sick of turning on the news just to hear about black people rioting in a nasty crabshack apt. building!

The family member who responded to my original post (with that riveting version of the English language) certainly didn't deny that drugs were involved. Why not?

Used to be a nice apt complex. New managers? Gun shots have been heard, drug dealing, and now a stabbing. Wow, makes me want to live there. Seems like management should step in!
