Senate Ethics Plan Clears Legislative Panel

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - A Senate legislative panel has approved a
new ethics package that would prevent statewide candidates from
accepting campaign contributions from lobbyists.

The proposal also prohibits executive branch officials and their
immediate families from accepting gifts other than $100 in food and
drinks from lobbyists. Members of the legislature already face
similar restrictions.

It cleared the Senate State and Local Government Committee
Wednesday without opposition. Senate Majority Floor Leader Dan
Kelly says the full Senate is expected to vote on the measure when
it meets Wednesday.
