LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Darius Miller dominated the second half as
Mason County beat Holmes 57-48 Saturday in the Boys' Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena.
The 6-foot-7 senior forward scored a game-high 24 points, 19 in
the second half, to lead the third-ranked Royals (34-4) to their second state championship in five years.
Mason County won its first title in 2003. The Royals lost in the
final the next season with Miller, then an eighth-grader, on the team.
Miller, a frontrunner for Mr. Basketball and a University of Kentucky signee, made 7 of 11 shots and 10 of 13 free throws.
