High School Drowning Victims Remembered

Students Cope With Loss Of Classmates

Teens Remembered In Two Counties

Students from Powell County High School had the day off from class on Tuesday to remember two fallen students.

15-year-old Brian Rowland and 14-year-old Billy Eversole were fishing Friday night when they went in to the water. Emergency crews found their bodies in the pond on Saturday.

Both teens attended Powell County High School where they were members of the football team.

"They weren't just my friends, they were my brothers, both of them," said Andrew Ledford, a friend and teammate to both boys.

Funerals for both boys were held on Tuesday afternoon.

Billy Eversole's funeral was held at Powell County High School at 11am Tuesday morning.

"Billy wasn't scared of anybody and he would do anything to help a friend in need," said David Crowe, a friend and teammate to Eversole.

Brian Rowland's funeral was held in Winchester at 1pm.

"Brian always had a smile on his face, laughing all the time," Ledford said of his friend.

"We will miss them so much, school just won't be the same," said Crowe.

"I will miss them boys but I will always have the memories we made, they are in my heart," said Ledford

Brian Rowland was laid to rest at Clarmont Memorial Gardens, in Winchester.

Billy Eversole was laid to rest at Sparks Cemetery in Stanton.
