Floyd County Board Recognizes Academic Accomplishments

Several students were recognized for their recent accomplishments in district and regional Governor’s Cup and Science Olympiad Competitions during the March 24th Board meeting held at Adams Middle School. Those recognized earned placements to compete in state level competitions. The Floyd County Board of Education proudly congratulates all those students who have participated this year in the Governor’s Cup and Science Olympiads. We extend a special thank you to the teachers who coach students throughout the year and during these important events.

The following schools were recognized during the March 24 board meeting held at Adams Middle School:

Middle School District 86
Overall Final Standings #1 Betsy Layne Elementary School,

Three students qualified for state competition
District -85- Competition: Chase Baldridge Placed 2nd in Mathematics
District -86- Competition: Jessica Justice Placed 1st in Composition
District-86-Competition: Andrea Akers Placed 2nd in Composition

Regional Science Olympiads Middle School Division
1st Place Allen Central Middle School -Draco -Advances to State
3rd Place Betsy Layne Elementary - Hercules- Advances to State
5th Place Betsy Layne Elementary - Gemini – Advances to State
Regional Science Olympiads High School Division
3rd Place Betsy Layne HS – Omega- Advances to State
5th Place PHS - Blackcats – Advances to State
